As the 2022 Fifa World Cup is due to begin in Qatar, brands have already unveiled new kits for every country, with Canada being the only one to date that has not undergone a change. Given that Team Canada has gone thirty-six years without qualifying for the world cup, I consider this to be completely unjust.
Nike released a statement that left Canadian soccer fans extremely displeased:
“The 2022 Canada kit will be the same as the team has worn throughout the past year, as Canada Soccer is on a different kit development cycle. The kits are highlighted by Canada’s traditional red and white color scheme and are accentuated by the Canadian Soccer crest, featuring the maple leaf, the nation’s most widely recognized symbol.“
This statement regarding the team Canada kit development makes me question whether they thought Canada would make it at all. Compared to other world cup kits Canada’s is very minimalistic, simple, and quite boring if you ask me. This being such a momentous occasion for Canada’s National Soccer team everyone was expecting much more from Nike. They are known to do a wonderful job with the kits which leaves fans wondering why they did Team Canada so dirty.
Sports blogs and sports enthusiasts have been discussing their thoughts all over social media. To some soccer fans, the kits don’t make a cup songs the soccer kits are a part of making the experience unique and special to each fan. By unveiling new designs and new kits you are giving the audience a taste of what’s to come leaving them wanting more.difference as their focus is mainly on performance, however to most like the world
The FIFA world cup happens once every four years making it special to sports fans globally, and it’s important that their team is sporting the latest and greatest.
